Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination.

Sanity keeps reminding man how fearful the real life is and how far away it is from the ideal state.

Happiness requires a man to enjoy the status quo and quit thinking about anything else but these that are here and now.

Over the last five-some years, I’ve been trying to become more rational, and still, I take pride in being sane and critical thinking. Yet, I must admit, it’s not a happy time during these sobering hours. Crusoe may be said to be lucky, in that he was excluded from all the thinking which bother everyman, being required to focus only on survival and carrying on. Drinking wine and beer, is not unlike using these beverages to isolate ourselves on an island, and jettison all the thoughts that have been in our mind forever. How sweet is this ocean water, for it’s the very security you have against attacking worries of past and future.

I have heard a lot of my friends comment that they are surprised by the neck-breaking development happened in Japan after WWII, given the havoc wreaked there by the war, and they compare it to the fast marching of the Dragon economy.

They didn’t know that  the single most important factor is human resources and the postbellum Japan still kept their developed human power. I say there is no comparison between the postbellum Japan and the China today, and the reason rests on the fact that due to stupid policies, the human resources part are still not well developed and that will be the bottleneck of China’s development.
